Cussin’ Christians

Hello Garden Guys and Girls,

Cussin’  Christians!?! Okay Keshia, what are you REALLY talking about here? Well, before I began this blog, let me apologize to you because I know I was supposed to talk about why I SO love essential oils and the concept of aromatherapy in this post here.  However, several weeks ago, the Holy Spirit dropped the words “Cussin’ Christians” in my spirit and I knew this is what I was supposed to talk about next because I had been hearing and seeing it way more than was necessary from believers!  The more I meditated on why I needed to share these thoughts now, the more I was convinced that it warranted some immediate discussion.  Why?  Because God wants us to STOP IT! I have heard it in conversations with people and I have witnessed it on social media sites or other written platforms.  In fact, I was one of those “Cussin’ Christians,” too, and was pretty good at it.  Quite honestly, I didn’t realize that I had been a “Cussin’ Christian” for some time.  And if I’m not careful even now, I will let one or two of these destructive phrases slip out today!  “Wow, aren’t you the transparent one,” one might say?  Well yes I am…simply because it is time for us as believers, FULL  of authority and power to stop opening the door to the enemy to gain access in our lives because we DON’T CHOOSE to censor our mouths! 

You see Garden Guys and Girls, Proverbs 18:21 states that “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”  That word power in this text could also be translated “hand” here.  So then, Death and life are in the hand of the tongue and they that love it shall eat it’s fruit!  As believers, we need to know that EVERYTHING that has to do with life and EVERYTHING that has to do with death has already been PLACED in your tongue’s hand!  Still not convinced?  Let’s see what Deuteronomy 30:19 has to say about this WORD and LIFE thing.  It reads “I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing:  therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.”  It has been SET before you!  So exactly how do you choose the kind of life so that you and your seed may live?  Well, you’re going to have to choose some words.  And not just any kind of words.  You have got to choose LIFE-GIVING, LIFE-PRODUCING, and RESULTS-YIELDING WORDS!   The connection IS words.  It always has been, and it always will be! In the beginning was the Word.  Everything that was created, including us, was created by Words.  God upholds EVERYTHING by the WORD of His power. There is simply no way of getting around the authority of words.  Still a bit skeptical, huh?  Well, let’s see.  I know that anyone that has been in and around the church for any amount of time probably knows Romans 10:9 by heart.  Let’s say it together:  That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thout shalt be saved.  If we examine the first part of the Scripture, we notice that it all begins with opening our mouths and speaking TRUTH, speaking LIFE, and speaking WORDS with power.   We are saved by confessing words out of our mouth! How awesome and powerful is that? 

So why then, do we say things like, “KML—Killing myself laughing,”  “Flatlined or dead,” “My back is killing me” and wonder why your back hasn’t improved? “That dessert was so good, it’s sinful.”  “That tickled me to DEATH.”  “I just ate something that now has me sick as a dog.”  “These are some killer shoes,” and then wonder why you almost busted your bottom on the way out the door? “It seems like I get the flu around this same time every year or this cold is about to get the best of me,” realizing that it has already been released into the atmosphere.  “This headache is killing me” and wonder why your head continues to throb with pain.  “They killed that song” in fact, meaning that it was actually a pretty good gospel song and the list continues.  “That thing is probably not even going to work out that way because it never works that simple for me.  It’s just the way it is!” “Well, you know that heart disease runs in my family,” and the one that really ranks high on my list of PLEASE STOP IT, “How is Little Randy doing?” “Girl, he is fine, he is bad though!”  Seriously?!? Please do not label your own child, the fruit of your womb, your seed, BAD.  (Taps mic again)  I said, NO child is bad! God’s Word declares that children are a heritage!  No matter what circumstance that child has arrived here under, every good and perfect gift comes from God.  Well, I know I cannot recount every phrase I have read or have seen since I have been seriously meditating on this thought, but my point is by all means PLEASE STOP CURSING YOURSELF TO DEATH physically, relationally, emotionally, financially, and spiritually!  Yes it is that serious.  Again, I didn’t make up the rules.  They were already established by words. So it really is that serious! People of God, our Heavenly Daddy desires us to start confessing words of life and stop using these negative, less than life-producing, beneath your God ordained place, “worldly” words. I think I’m done…. Not really, but I will pause until next time.  So what do you say Garden Guys and Girls?  Can we get back to Eden and really LIVE on top of the “world.”  And I really do mean that, in every sense of that word.
